According to the church calendar, Resurrection Day is this Sunday. Don't get me started on "easter" and I also have issues with the Church establishing the Holy week season apart from its roots of Passover, but that is another set of blogs altogether.

Resurrection Sunday is special.

It is the foundation of our faith and hope.

What good would it do to have faith for a little bit of happiness while we are still breathing on this earth, if we did not have eternal hope of what comes after this short life?

The death of Jesus as our Messiah/Savior provided us the grace & mercy of forgiveness of our many sins. But if that is all... then we are merely God's servants with no hope of a future.

BUT WE HAVE SO MUCH MORE!! Because Jesus not only died for us, but ROSE from death to eternal life again, we are full of joyful hope, encompassing peace, a capacity to love our enemies, strength to do the right things, courage to be openly serving God regardless of the anti=Christ culture of death that surrounds us today. We have lives of purposeful belonging as we are part of God's family.

WOW --- without the promise of resurrection -- eternal life in Heaven with our Father, we are to be pitied as much as all of His lost creation that refuses to acknowledge or serve Him. But since He is alive, we will also live!!

For more, come this Sunday --- it's quite a celebration of life!

Marantha, y'all!

Keep looking up,
