No matter what you call or called her, everyone had one at one time. You were born of a woman.
She might have been/ be great, struggling, not-so-good or even absent. But she was/is: Mother.
Jesus, son of God, had a Mom. Mary was very young, very faithful & trusting of God, and was not yet married when she discovered that she was going to have a child, a son, The Son of The Father God.
I cannot imagine what she felt or thought, but she chose to accept the great privilege and burden of carrying the shame imposed on her in the community who thought she had cheated on her soon-to-be husband.
Joseph, the groom-to- be, loved her but even HE required an angelic visit to set things straight and keep things on course for them to raise Jesus together -- a child he did not create - but adopted in his role as dad to God-in-the-flesh.
Motherhood is hard. You bring a life into the world and then nurture, nourish and protect that life until they learn to walk, talk, think, become educated... and you make a million decisions about health, friends, rules, when to talk, when to stay silent, how to teach them to survive and thrive in an uncertain world and in the process, you must keep going yourself.
Moms need self-care even as they sacrifice.
Moms need nourishing of their souls, spirits and bodies even as they must keep moving.
Moms often feel overwhelmed, under-appreciated and even unloved by the very same life she brought into this world.
I could go on, but here a couple things:
God loves you and wants to walk with you, if you will take the precious time to connect with Him in a relationship.
God sees everything and hears your heart and mind. You are not crazy, just tired. But this will pass one day. And you will look back and see things differently.
Find a loving, truth telling, Bible believing Church to make friends, connections and get much needed support and help.
With God ALL things ARE possible!
Now everyone else, go call your Mom.
Or be kind to another stressed out mom who needs a word of hope, encouragement or acknowledgement.
We are all in this together.
Marantha, y'all.
Jesus will be back, maybe soon.
